Your story about the Titanic is ironic in more ways than one, since as well as signifying a time of great wealth, it also marks the last full year before the creation of the US Fed, and the beginning of the end of the international Gold Standard in operation at the time. Not only that, but some of the fiercest critics of the creation of the Fed happened to go down with the Titanic, thus paving the way for minimal opposition to the scheme in the first place.
